Nicola Hull was the only Dream Fencing entrant this year to the Bexley Open. Finding herself in this exalted position she decided to create a challenge for herself by losing her first two poule fights, not the best start. After the shock of her first two fights Nicola came back all guns blazing to win the next two, 5 x 0. To her annoyance, Nicola then lost her final poule fight to come out with a ranking of 14th going into the DEs.

14 bexley openNicola had to pick herself up again to face her DE fights. Failing to get a bye, she won her first fight 15 x 5, her second against Julie Henson, winner of this competition for the last three years, 15 x 11 and her 3rd against Georgia Pallas, 15 x 2. Here sadly, Nicola’s climb back from a bad start came to a halt as she was beaten by the eventual winner Elsa Phillipson 15 x 12.

Nicola came away with a hard earned bronze medal after a roller coaster day of fencing!
